Love to read and talk books

For the Love of a Son: One Afghan Woman's Quest for Her Stolen Child

For the Love of a Son: One Afghan Woman's Quest for her Stolen Child - Jean Sasson I can't give this book a star rating since I didn't finish it.

I'm not a big fan of these kinds of books where we get a women telling us her live story, only for us to read all about how terrible it was to live in THAT country, in THAT culture. To me it feels more like it's commercial, bashing your traditions, ur origins and your people, only to sell a story, I have no respect for these women.

Now, if it was presented as fiction, that's a different matter.

In almost every page there is a mention of how unimportant women were and how dominant men are, ok I got it.

Right at the beginning of the book, not sure if any of you would consider this a spoiler, we are introduced to a young boy who just got into Kindergarten, only to discover that it was really a girl, who hated how women are treated and so decides to be a boy, so she dresses and acts like one. Ok, I have a problem here, how old is that girl??? Just got into school, let's say 6 maybe 7! She already noticed how unfair society is, to rebel against it?? Ok, I might understand that her parents were indulging her, by letting her act as a boy, and calling her with a boy name, but to hide it and get her into school as a boy, HOW and WHY, didn't they have to register her with official papers or something??!!
I don't know, this just made me Sooooo irritated!

I'm not sure how true this story is, and I actually don't care.
